Big Music, Stoneman’s Bookroom – 12th July 2025

Stoneman’s Bookroom is basically the best bookshop ever, and they’re hosting an author talk with writer/musician Gillian Wills on Saturday 12th July to celebrate the release of her new novel Big Music. This one is close to home, literally, and also figuratively as Gillian’s story is partly inspired by my old alma mater, the Victorian College of the Arts. Some come along and check it out!

Recreation de Musique, Coomoora Ensemble in Castlemaine – 9th August 2025

After presenting our concert of French baroque music at the glorious Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, the delightful Coomoora Ensemble will bring the programme to the cosy Castlemaine Uniting Church Hall. Three out of four of our members live on Djaara country, so it’s an honour to present this music in my hometown. Come and check out 18th-C masterpieces by Boismortier, Blavet, Jacquet de la Guerre, and Forqueray, topped off with Leclair’s epic Deuxième récréation de musique.

Alison Catanach – baroque flute
Lizzy Welsh – baroque violin
Edwina Cordingley – baroque ‘cello
Ann Morgan – harpsichord

Tickets $35/$25 available via trybooking or at the door.

Yearning, Bendigo Symphony Orchestra – 31st August 2025

BSO’s third season for 2025 presents works from the height of 19th-C romanticism including Rachmaninov’s famous second piano concerto featuring Amir Farid as soloist, and Brahm’s incredible second symphony. This will be a particularly special event as we’re joined by my delightful colleagues from Resonance String Orchestra in a performance of Verdi’s Overture from Nabucco.

Book early to ensure you don’t miss out!
