For our final programme of 2026, Bendigo Symphony Orchestra will be joined by our fearless leader and conductor, Luke Severn, as soloist in Dvorak’s stunning ‘cello concerto. We’re also playing Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
I’m honoured to be part of the ensemble for the piece by legendary Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta and Nari Nari Songman Kutcha Edwards to celebrate the reopening of the refurbished State Theatre.
The line up of Song Keepers and cultural custodians for this special event is outrageously excellent, including Deborah Cheetham Fraillon AO (Yorta Yorta / Yuin), Wayne Thorpe (Gunnai), Alice Skye (Wergaia / Wemba Wemba), Stacie Nicholson-Piper (Wurundjeri, Dja Dja Wurrung and Ngurai-Illum Wurrung), Neil Morris (Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Multi-lineal Indigenous Sovereign Custodian) and Boorook – Brett Clarke (Kerray Woorroong).
Astra concerts are always a smorgasbord of interesting music from across eras, and this October’s outing is no different. I’ll be appearing in an arrangement of Händel’s Chandos Arias, as well as the world premiere of a new work by Allan Walker, Things, based on three ‘proémes’ by Francis Ponge.
It’s going to be a special one, so be sure to book early to not miss out.
